Dinosaur Project

The Dinosaur Project is a 6' by 12' concrete sculpture located in the courtyard of Lake Travis Elementary School in a sand covered area surrounded by pleasant landscaping. Students are supplied with trowels and brushes and encouraged by teachers to explore and discover the skeletal remains of an American Deinonychus. Wynd created this museum replica using a concrete material that he specifically developed for this endeavor. Hundreds of hours of research went into to creating this life size sculpture, factually created from an original dig, providing students a first hand glimpse at the full bone structures of this amazing creature in a 'hands-on' setting.

Originally designed as an 'On-Campus Fieldtrip', students from all classes are encouraged to sharpen their skills from the many areas of study, including Science, Math, History, English and Art. For example, Math students can take measurements of the bones and determine the size of this creature. English students are encouraged to write essays about what they discover while unearthing the skeletal structure. Science students are encourage to learn the merits of Paleontology while History students can learn about prehistoric species that roamed in this land millions of years ago. The students agree that the sculpture makes classes more educational and much more enjoyable.

Pricing for this type of work is determined by the square foot. Please contact Wynd for more information here.
